How do I install PrismBeat?
Download the PrismBeat DMG, open it, and drag PrismBeat.app to Applications. Launch from Applications, play audio in another app, then press ⌘R and allow system audio recording. The universal app supports Intel and Apple Silicon and requires macOS 15.0 or later.
Which macOS version do I need?
PrismBeat requires macOS 15.0 or later.
Why does it need system audio recording permission?
PrismBeat uses a Core Audio system audio tap to analyze sound playing in other apps. Capture starts only after you start it and grant permission. It does not capture your microphone or screen images and does not require screen recording permission.
Why is there no spectrum?
Check that another app is playing audio, then check system audio recording permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Restart PrismBeat if needed. Some protected content may be unavailable for capture.
Why can’t I click the window?
Locked mode enables click-through. Activate PrismBeat and unlock from its Action menu, or press ⌘⇧L while the app is active.
Can it float over any app?
The transparent floating window can overlay everyday app windows. macOS full-screen Spaces, secure system interfaces, and other special windows may limit floating behavior.
How do I report a problem?
